The frame is designed to absorb 20mm worth of roots, curbs, and railroad tracks without a shock. Its called IsoZone, and it adds comfort and durability directly to the frame. In addition, Trek utilized a handlebar-mounted control for on-the-fly suspension lockout as you switch terrains. A remote lockout means an easier time on the trail as your hands don't even have to leave the handlebars.
Speaking of hands, Trek went with Bontrager bars and grips which provide comfort, control, and durability, as well as providing a nice upright ride that's easy to enjoy.
